COVENT GARDEN’S HISTORIC FOOD QUARTER

Once part of Covent Garden’s famous fruit market, today the Opera Quarter boasts some of London’s finest restaurants, pubs, bars, and specialist food emporiums. Steeped in history; it is here that Thomas de Quincey wrote ‘Confessions of an Opium Eater’, Charles Dickens ran his magazine ‘All the Year Round’ for twenty years and where Henry Fielding founded London’s first police force the Bow Street Runners in 1749.

Today, the Opera Quarter is home to a buzzing cafe culture and its position between the Royal Opera House, Theatre Royal Drury Lane and the Lyceum makes this the perfect place for pre and post theatre refreshments as all the restaurants, pubs and bars here offer special theatre menus and interval drinks.
